Today, most coaches employ a multimodal warm-up routine, that is, aerobic exercise (running), stretching, and ballistic (bouncing or hopping) movements. The conventional wisdom behind stretching is that it helps prepare the muscles for maximum effort, and helps to prevent injuries.
