By their very nature, children are incredibly spiritual beings. Infants are frequently viewed as the ultimate miracle of the nature and are seen to be the example of everything sacred and pure. Children seem to be in touch with the beauty and rhythm of the universe, and their place in it, far more so than the adults around them.

Many of you have heard of the Berry family tragedy that occurred in west Texas almost two months ago. Joshua and Robin Berry, residents of Briargrove in Houston, were killed when a car, apparently trying to pass a vehicle on a two lane highway during the near midnight hour, veered into their lane, giving Robin no time to maneuver. A horrific accident ended the lives of my friends coming home from a fun-filled summer vacation in Colorado.

When it comes to teaching young athletes about hydration, you have to make it memorable!

And the fact of the matter is, everybody goes to the bathroom, so everybody can check — even kids.

So the easiest way to do this is to ask them "what color is your urine?"

If it looks like apple juice, they may be dehydrated. If it looks like lemonade, they are probably hydrated.
